ESOL STRATEGIES
Some teachers today may not know how to help English Language learners in their classrooms when they do not speak the same language or come from the same cultural background that they do. There are several strategies they can implement in their classrooms to help improve the ELLs’ journey in learning English without knowing the same language or coming from the same cultural background. Below are several links to help teachers give the best education they can offer to their ELL students so that they can excel in learning English.

Chantal Normil and Maria Greenway from Clayton County Public Schools developed this webpage in 2011 to offer teachers tips for teaching students who are limited English proficient along with dos and don’ts. Teachers can also find tips to use with ESOL students at different stages of language acquisition. Included are specific tips for students who know absolutely no English, students who do not know enough English to read yet, students who are beginning to decode, and students who can read well but are deficient in comprehension.
